chech out Peter Greenway's 4 films put out by mystic fire video (c) 1985 Tra=nsalantic Films,Ltd.
John Cage. Phillip Glass. Meredith Monk, Robert Ashley
note on VHS box re: Glass's 60 mins feature (all four films are 60 mins):
"Philip Glass's 'systems music' has been described a 'high mass on Mars.' It combines the Western disciplines of the classical music tradition with Eastern influences and visceral rock. His hypnotic, rhythmic sound is appreciated by rock, jazz, and classical audiences alike. This video features conversations with and about Glass, as well as the Philip Glass
Ensemble performing, his 'Music in Similar Motion and passages from 'Einstein on the Beach' and 'Glasscorks'."
all these great titles for 'things' sometimes precede the piece and sometimes postcede the piece...
I choose to call 'em as I hears 'em not NO SOUND but rather NOH SOUND
after all if it were'nt for the silences there would be 'no sounds, eh?
